Sixteen seeded slots, from the round of 16 to the final. Fill them in, choose single or double elimination, and add slots if your field is bigger. The draw builds itself and everyone follows it live.

  • Four rounds: round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, final
  • Seeded so the top four cannot meet before the semis
  • Grows to 64 entrants with byes placed for you

Round of 16

Sixteen seeds, two halves, one rule

Every round-one pair adds up to seventeen, and the pairs are folded so that the higher the seed, the later it can meet another high seed. Seed 1 cannot see seed 2 before the final, or seeds 3 and 4 before the semifinals.

Planning a 16 team day

Sixteen is where a bracket stops being an evening and becomes an event. The round of 16 is eight matches on its own, and the whole thing only moves as fast as your slowest court. Two habits keep it on time: play the first round in waves across every court you have, and let the bracket decide what is next rather than a printed schedule that is wrong by round two.

The later rounds cannot overlap, so extra courts help less as the day goes on. Four courts is the sweet spot for sixteen; eight courts only saves the time of one round-of-16 wave.

Rough figures: rounds are played one after another, and the semifinals and final run on one court.

Past sixteen: 20, 24, 32 and up

This page is also where bigger tournaments start. Press “Add a slot” in the builder and keep going to 64. Anything that is not a power of two becomes the next size up with byes on the top seeds, and the builder marks those rows so you can see who sits out before you build.

The awkward sizes are the ones just past a power of two. Seventeen entrants means a 32-slot draw with fifteen byes: fifteen teams start in round two and one match decides who joins them. If that feels lopsided, a play-in or a round robin group stage feeding an 8-team or 16-team knockout is the usual fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Four: the round of 16, the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the final. Each round halves the field, 16 to 8 to 4 to 2 to a champion. In double elimination the losers bracket adds six more rounds of its own, though they run alongside the winners rounds rather than after them.

Thirty, or thirty-one if the grand final is reset. Single elimination is fifteen. The losers bracket is where the extra games live: eight first-round losers, then four quarterfinal losers and two semifinal losers dropping in at the matching stage, all playing down to one survivor who meets the winners-bracket champion.

Round one pairs 1 v 16, 8 v 9, 4 v 13, 5 v 12 in the top half and 2 v 15, 7 v 10, 3 v 14, 6 v 11 in the bottom half. Each pair adds up to seventeen. Seeds 1 and 2 are in opposite halves, 1 and 4 in opposite quarters, and the top four seeds cannot meet each other until the semifinals. Type your entrants strongest-first and the builder places them this way.

Add slots. The builder grows to 64 entrants on the free plan. Any count between 17 and 32 becomes a 32-slot draw with byes on the top seeds: 20 teams means 12 byes, 24 teams means 8, 32 means none. Between 33 and 64 it is a 64-slot draw on the same rule.

Run the round of 16 in waves across every court or table you have, then let the bracket set the order. With four courts and 20-minute matches, single elimination is about two hours of play plus changeovers. Double elimination roughly doubles that, so it wants a full day or two sessions. The live link means players can see when they are up without you announcing it.

Yes. Pick “Random draw” under Seeding and the sixteen names are shuffled into the bracket when it is built. If you want to see the order before committing, the random team generator shuffles the list on screen first and can build the bracket from that order.

Yes. Sixteen entrants is well inside the free plan's 64-entrant bracket limit, and you do not need an account to build one. Scores, live sharing and the full-screen TV view are all included.
