How to Score Yahtzee
Thirteen boxes, one filled per turn. The upper section rewards collecting one number; the lower section rewards poker-style patterns. Here is what each box is worth.

Getting to 63
The 35-point upper bonus needs 63 points from Ones through Sixes. That number isn't random: it is exactly three of every face. Think of each upper box as having a par of three dice.
Land four 6s and you are 6 points ahead of par, enough to cover taking only two 5s later. Take just two 1s and you are only 1 behind. That is why the big numbers matter most: a missing 6 costs six times what a missing 1 does.

Bonus Yahtzees and the Joker Rules
A second Yahtzee is where most scoring arguments start. If you already have 50 in the Yahtzee box, the new one earns a 100-point bonus. If you scratched the box with a 0, there is no bonus. Either way, the roll still has to go in a box, and the Joker rules say which:

Use the matching upper box if it is still open. Five 4s go in Fours for 20.

If that upper box is filled, use any open lower box. Full House, Small Straight and Large Straight score their full 25, 30 and 40; 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind and Chance score the dice total.

If every lower box is filled too, put a 0 in any open upper box.
On the online card, press + in the Yahtzee bonus row for each bonus Yahtzee and fill the box the Joker rules point you to as usual.
Four Habits of Good Yahtzee Players
Chase the upper bonus early
The 35 points are worth more than a large straight. Early in the game, a roll with three or four of one number usually belongs in the upper section.
Save Chance for a bad turn
Chance takes anything, which makes it your best escape late in the game. Using it on turn two to bank 22 points often costs more later.
Know what to scratch
When you have to take a 0, Ones costs you the least in points. Scratching Yahtzee is a gamble that it won't come, and it also gives up any bonus Yahtzees.
Keep your straight options open
Holding 3 and 4 gives you more ways to finish a straight than holding 1 and 2, because the middle numbers sit in every straight.

Frequently Asked Questions
25, no matter which dice make it up. Three 2s and two 3s score the same 25 as three 6s and two 5s. The small straight is 30, the large straight is 40, and a Yahtzee is 50.
Yes. Every turn you must fill one box, and if your dice don't fit anything useful you put a 0 in a box of your choice. That is called scratching. Most players scratch the box they are least likely to make later, often Yahtzee or Ones. On the online card, tap a fixed-score box twice to scratch it.
If your Ones through Sixes add up to 63 or more, you get a 35-point bonus. 63 is exactly three of each number (3 + 6 + 9 + 12 + 15 + 18), so every box where you land four of a kind puts you ahead of the pace and every box with only two puts you behind. The card on this page shows how many points you still need.
If you roll a second Yahtzee after already scoring 50 in the Yahtzee box, you get a 100-point bonus, and another 100 for every Yahtzee after that. You still have to fill a box with the roll using the Joker rules. If you scratched the Yahtzee box with a 0, later Yahtzees earn no bonus.
When you roll a Yahtzee and the Yahtzee box is already filled (with 50 or 0), you must first use the matching upper box if it is open: five 4s go in Fours for 20. If that box is taken, you may use the roll in any open lower box, and Full House, Small Straight and Large Straight score their full 25, 30 and 40. If every lower box is filled too, you must put a 0 in an open upper box.
1,575, and it takes thirteen Yahtzees in a row. That is 105 in the upper section plus the 35 bonus, 235 in the lower section using Joker rules, and twelve bonus Yahtzees at 100 each. A good game is usually somewhere between 200 and 300.
Thirteen, one for each box. Each turn you get up to three rolls, keeping any dice you like between rolls, and then you must fill exactly one box. The game ends when every player has filled all thirteen.
